Internet Is People Goes Back to School!

Join Internet is People, in partnership with Pace University’s Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems for a discussion focused on sharing the stories of some of the people and companies changing higher education and distance learning through the use of innovative technology.

Our panel discussion will be moderated by Internet is People Co-Founder Kate Miltner, and will include:

Jeremy Johnson, Chief Marketing Officer, 2tor

Jeremy is a digital media evangelist and technology entrepreneur with a soft spot for simple design. He has spoken to multiple technology and social media conferences on the online interaction through the use of social media tools and has consulted for a variety of companies on web and social media strategy.

Kevin Prentiss, CEO of Swift Kick

Kevin is an entrepreneur with extensive experience in creating, marketing and managing technology. He is currently working on Swift Kick, an education startup solving apathy through training, experiential learning, and technology.

Dr. Christelle Scharff, Associate Professor of Computer Science, Pace University

Dr. Scharff is a Computer Science professor at the Seidenberg School and works with students, programmers, communities in Cambodia, Senegal and India to produce mobile solutions and has considerable experience with distance learning, mentoring and communication.

The panel will be followed immediately after by a networking hour where refreshments will be served.

Personal finance has often been a scary concept for the average American consumer. A new slate of credit card regulations aimed to protect the consumer have actually made the landspace more confusing. Traditionally, banks and investment institutions have often had the upper hand in controlling access to account and finance information, and make it difficult for the average American consumer to understand how their money actually works.

A revolution in personal finance has allowed a new generation of Internet connected consumers the ability to understand, manage, spend, and share money as never before. Through the use of integrated finance systems, mobile applications, and financial education, these tools help the consumer to understand what is happening with their money real time.

Join Internet Is People, in partnership with Four Seasons Hotel New York and Pace University, for a panel discussion and Q&A with some of the leaders of the the “Personal Finance Revolution”. Listen to their personal and professional stories as they share how and why they turned to the Internet to help consumers understand their money.

Hi everyone!

It’s time we shared a little secret that we are to announce - our first panel event for Wednesday night, July 14th!

We’re calling it “Women in Enterpreneurship”, and we’ve invited a panelist of female enterpreneurs to tell their stories about how they’ve made their businesses grow through the Internet.

Our panel will feature:

Lindsay Ronga, CEO of Cork’d
Alexa Van Tobel, Founder and CEO of LearnVest
Melanie Notkin, CEO and Founder of SavvyAuntie
Christine Lemke, COO and Co-Founder of Sense Networks

The event will take place on July 14th, at 6pm at the 92Y in TriBeCa (200 Hudson Street) and will include a networking hour starting at 6pm. The panel (moderated by the magnificent Kate Miltner) discussion and Q&A will start at 7p and run until about 8pm. Tickets are available now through the 92Y website, and will be $12. Your ticket price helps 92Y to continue a rich schedule of hosting events like ours.

Hello, visitor!

Welcome to the placeholder site for Internet Is People. We’re currently developing a more robust site, but in the meantime, here are the basics:

- We are a panel/discussion series based in New York, NY.

- We are taking a Behind The Actors Studio approach to the luminaries of the internet: we’ll be interviewing people who’ve done great things online so that the next generation of aspiring techies can learn from them.

- Each panel will focus on 3 or 4 people who do a certain internet-related thing: journalism, development, activism, you name it.

- We are Matt and Kate.
